Our story
Every piece has a past. We give it a future.
Oak Street Designs started with a beat-up dresser, a can of paint, and a stubborn belief that good bones never go out of style.
How it all started
It started the way most good things do — by accident. We spotted a solid-wood dresser on Facebook Marketplace, buried under decades of neglect and a truly unfortunate shade of brown. We saw something worth saving.
So we found another. Then another. Before long, Oak Street Designs was born — a one-person operation run out of a garage.
Today we source pieces from estate sales, auctions, Facebook Marketplace and the occasional curb rescue across the region. Each one is stripped back, repaired, and refinished by hand before it finds its way to you.
How we do it
No shortcuts. No spray-and-pray. Every piece gets the full treatment.
Find & assess
We hunt estate sales, auctions, and thrift stores for pieces with great bones — solid wood, interesting lines, and a story worth telling. If it's wobbly, warped, or missing hardware, we factor that into the plan.
Strip & repair
Old finishes come off. Loose joints get re-glued. Damaged surfaces get filled and sanded smooth. We don't hide flaws — we fix them. This is the unglamorous part, and it's the most important.
Finish & style
Color choices are deliberate — we pick shades that feel fresh but timeless. Multiple coats, light sanding between each, sealed for durability. New hardware is the finishing touch that pulls it all together.
What we believe
Sustainability isn't a buzzword
Every piece we restore is one less thing in a landfill. Vintage furniture is built to last — it just needs a little love.
One of a kind, always
We never reproduce a piece. When it's gone, it's gone. That's what makes it worth having.
Honest pricing
We price fairly — enough to keep the lights on and keep finding great pieces, not enough to make you wince.
Made for real homes
Not showrooms. Not Instagram sets. Pieces that work hard, look great, and hold up to actual life.
